Robert DiRoma Jr.

Drug & Alcohol Counselor, LMSW, LADC

Robert DiRoma, Jr. was born in Stamford, CT as the first of fraternal twins. While growing up and in high school he realized how family, friends, and at times complete strangers would strike up conversation and begin telling him their life story in intimate detail. As he got older he realized how humbling this experience could be, listening to others life experiences and giving them the avenue to express themselves while at times providing suggestions.

Robert found Social Work as an avenue to help others in a professional manner. Why Robert seeked out Social Work was because this profession takes into account not just the persons experience or psyche but also how the environment impacts an individual.

Robert obtained his Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University while working in mental health and substance abuse facilities. He utilizes techniques in his practice including CBT, motivational interviewing, and dynamic therapy to create a holistic therapeutic alliance that facilitates healing.

Individual Counseling

Creating a safe, secure, non-judgemental space to discuss the intimate details of one’s life while utilizing rational emotive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and long term dynamic therapy to help foster a sustainable life of recovery or harm reduction with the person centered approach.

Interventions

Have you hit the point where you can’t bear witness to a friend or loved one suffering anymore? Are they not willing to go and get help for their addiction or know they need help but aren’t seeking it out? Utilizing two types of intervention models The Johnson Intervention or Systemic Intervention with the help of colleague Lori Williams, we can help choose the right intervention with hopes of the loved one or friend agreeing to treatment and starting their recovery.

Speaking Engagements

These are just some topics that Robert can discuss with the masses, whether in a classroom or a conference center.

  • Addiction and mental health
  • Psycho-educating teens and adults on addiction
  • Coping with watching a loved one or friend in active addiction
  • Setting boundaries and finding treatment for loved ones
