Welcome to DiRomaTherapy in Darien
People have always been willing to talk to me, so maybe it’s not a big surprise that I became a therapist who specializes in addiction therapy, anger management, and other forms of addiction-related counseling.
Even as a high school student in Stamford, CT, there were times when total strangers would speak to me about intimate details of their lives, like I had been their therapist for years, was a close personal friend, or a long-time member of the family.
Eventually, the experience of listening to people and allowing them to express themselves led me to a career in social work. It was a way for me to help others in a professional setting, and as I’ve branched out into addiction therapy, the skill of listening to people and letting them express their emotions and feelings as they try to deal with the many layers of addiction and other personal issues, is my way of helping people get through difficult period of their lives.
At DiRoma Therapy in Darien, I offer individual counseling in a safe, secure, and judgement-free environment. I use a variety of updated treatment modalities to assist people as they seek to find a way to end troubling addictions, navigate recovery, work to reduce instances of personal harm, or control outbursts of anger.
If a loved one or a friend is struggling with an addiction and you’d like to get them help, I work with a colleague to provide interventions. If the loved one or friend agrees to the treatment, I use one of two intervention models to try to provide help.
I’m also available for speaking engagements at schools, conferences, or health-related events. Some of the topics that I am available to discuss are educating teens and adults on the stages of addiction; frank discussions on addiction and mental health; coping with the extreme emotions of living with or watching a loved one in active addiction; and setting boundaries and finding treatment for loved ones who are struggling with addiction or recovery, are considering suicide, or are facing a mental health crisis.
If you are seeking a therapist or counselor for yourself or to help a family member or loved one who needs addiction therapy, give me a call at 203.667.7526 or email diromatherapy@gmail.com to schedule an initial consultation. We can meet face-to-face at my office at 28 Thorndal Circle in Darien, or I’m also available for telehealth sessions.
